Job Description:

Environmental Education interns will assist with all interpretive programming and events held at the park. Brandywine Creek offers a unique experience in that you will have the opportunity to get a taste of both cultural and nature centered interpretation. You will take part in our Eastern Bluebird Monitoring Project, Oral History Project, and our new Monarch Monitoring Program. As well as be a part of family events, canoe and tube down the Brandywine Creek, Full Moon Hikes, and other weekly programs highlighting our parks resources! Includes night programs and programs on weekends. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Interns will need to be punctual, responsible, comfortable speaking in front of others, as well as have a positive attitude about working with members of the public and working outdoors. Interns will have opportunities to work one on one with naturalist staff to gain additional experience with environmental education, interpreting for the public, and engaging with a diverse audience. Interns will also participate in intern-wide professional development activities and experiential learning opportunities that may require them to be off-site or away from their placement. Each intern will complete a personalized “demonstration of learning” project. At the conclusion of the internship, all interns will present their projects during a poster session for peers and Delaware State Parks staff.
