Job Description:

As Engineering Manager for Interfaces at PPRO, you will lead a newly established team in Munich charged with defining and executing a bold, global vision and strategy for Interfaces. Your team will drive the design and architecture of frontend and backend solutions across domains in a high-scale, dynamic environment. You will set the technical direction, foster your team’s professional growth, and cultivate a compelling vision that inspires innovation and excellence. This role offers a unique opportunity to be a hands-on leader—guiding your team's architectural decisions and coding on key platform components in React and Java—acting as a “mini-CTO” within a startup-like setting, all while benefiting from the support and stability of PPRO.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and drive the technology strategy for your product in partnership with your Product Manager counterpart
  • Establish a foundation to enable the efficient creation of frontend solutions to other teams across the company
  • Work with your team to develop new UIs, modules, and platforms for PPRO
  • Inspire, coach and mentor engineers’ growth and success, helping them to find and develop their strengths
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and customers to identify the most significant opportunity areas for your product
  • Set clear expectations and goals for your team and measure impact
  • Lead by example and work close to the code (React and Java), making informed decisions while you identify technical risks
  • Facilitate technical discussions, help guide resolutions and navigate trade-offs
  • Own operational excellence for your product, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Humble and inclusive leadership style
  • Experience in developing, mentoring and growing a high performing collaborative and diverse team
  • Results-orientation, collaborative, pragmatic, and with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Desire to spend ~50% of your time close to the code
  • Ability to analyse and articulate tradeoffs of technical problems to a broad audience
  • Experience designing and building scalable fullstack products and services
  • A track record building micro-frontend architecture with multiple modules and widgets
  • Experience working with frontend frameworks, including, but not limited to React
  • Experience working with one or more general-purpose programming languages including, but not limited to Java
  • Experience with the cloud architecture and providers (preferably AWS)
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate influencing decisions globally, where you might not have direct authority and always with inclusive, adaptable, and persuasive data-backed communication
  • Working proficiency in English
  • Micro-frontend architecture
  • Full stack experience
  • React, Typescript
  • Java 21 and Spring Boot 3
  • Cloud-native microservice architecture on AWS
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Event-driven architectures
  • Infrastructure-as-Code, e.g. Terraform
What we offer:
  • Hybrid working with a 3 days / week on site expectation
  • 30-day holiday allowance
  • Work from abroad policy, enabling employees to work remotely for up to another 30 days per year
  • €1,000 annual budget for professional growth
  • Leadership cafés, on-the-job training
  • Accident insurance, disability insurance, direct insurance (bAV) and travel insurance
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Contribution towards the costs of your gym membership
  • Access to a mental health platform for therapy, courses, meditations
  • Modern office with multimedia-equipped meeting rooms, kitchen, and lunch area
  • Pet-friendly office
