Job Description:

This is a key leadership position, combining hands-on engineering expertise with responsibility for supporting, guiding, and developing a skilled team of technicians, ensuring our fleet remains safe, compliant, and fully serviceable. You will play a vital role in the day-to-day performance of the depot by leading engineering activity and ensuring all maintenance and repair work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leading, supporting, and motivating a team of engineers and fitters
  • Carrying out diagnostics, inspections, and repairs on PCV vehicles
  • Allocating work and monitoring performance against safety, quality, and service targets
  • Ensuring full compliance with DVSA, Health & Safety, and Arriva standards
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and depot systems
  • Supporting the Engineering Manager with training, mentoring, and apprentice development

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Previous experience in a Chargehand, Supervisory, or Senior Technician role
  • Strong knowledge of PCV or HGV mechanical systems
  • Confident communicator with proven leadership capability
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including early, late, and weekend shifts
  • PCV license desirable, but not essential
