Merrick and Company is seeking an experienced Laboratory / Facility Design Electrical Engineer for our Life Sciences business unit in our Greenwood Village, CO office. This position requires a competent professional engineer who will be responsible for all phases of engineering production and BIM for a variety of work ranging from programming through construction administration. This includes interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating the design and production effort for one or more large or complex projects. The candidate is required to have industry experience working in Architectural/Engineering consulting, providing and producing electrical construction documents and designs using Revit, and writing specifications. The candidate should have experience designing complex and critical facilities including design responsibility of power infrastructure design, emergency and UPS systems, grounding, lighting systems calculations and design, telecommunications/security design, and fire alarm design. This position will also be responsible for coordination of projects in construction, so experience in construction administration is required. Construction administration is typically review of submittals, responding to RFIs, and coordinating with contractors and construction managers. The position will sometimes require travel to various sites to perform site survey, host meetings with clients and contractors, and assist with construction and commissioning reviews.
Job Responsibility:
Design of electrical systems for facilities / laboratories for Government, University, and private clients.
Provide conceptual / detailed design and analysis for facility power distribution (600V), emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications (voice/data), fire alarm / mass notification, security, access control, and special systems.
Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.
This individual is expected to possess knowledge on electrical regulatory codes.
Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.

Requirements:
Minimum four (4) years of experience in facility Electrical Engineering design
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-Accredited program
Familiar with REVIT/AutoCAD or other design software-based drawing generation
Experience using electrical calculation tools is desired, including lighting and power software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, and EasyPower.
Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word
Experience with technical codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, and IEEE.
The client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
Nice to have:
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is desired, or the ability to obtain a license within one (1) year.
Experience with USDA, ARS, CDC and other laboratory clients.
