This is a dynamic, part-time opportunity for a dedicated Design & Technology Teacher specialising in Resistant Materials (RM) and Product Design (PD). Starting immediately, the successful candidate will step into a well-equipped department to deliver high-quality lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students. The role requires a hands-on educator who is as comfortable at a workbench as they are at a whiteboard, ensuring that safety and creativity go hand-in-hand.
Job Responsibility:
Lesson Delivery: Planning and teaching engaging RM and Product Design lessons
Material Prep: Coordinating with technicians to ensure resources are ready for practical work
Safety Inspections: Conducting daily checks on equipment to ensure a hazard-free space
Student Assessment: Marking coursework and practical outcomes in line with school policy
Curriculum Development: Contributing fresh ideas to the DT schemes of work
Mentorship: Supporting students during lunch or after-school clubs for project catch-up
Parental Engagement: Providing updates on student progress through reports and evenings
Compliance: Adhering to all school policies regarding behaviour and safeguarding
Professional Development: Participating in departmental meetings and CPD sessions
Workshop Maintenance: Ensuring the learning environment is tidy, organised, and inspiring
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
Up-to-date training on child protection and welfare
Eligibility to work in the UK
Technical Proficiency: Expert handling of woodwork and metalwork machinery (lathes, bandsaws, etc.)
Differentiated Instruction: Tailoring complex technical tasks to suit diverse learning needs
Prototyping: Guiding students through the iterative design process from concept to model
Health & Safety Awareness: A sharp eye for risk assessment and workshop protocols
