Job Description:

As a DFM Project Engineer – 3D Printing, you're primarily responsible for working with customers across an array of industries including general machine building, commercial, automotive, industrial and medical devices. It is critical that you have the ability to evaluate manufacturability of customer designs and recommend solutions utilizing Xometry’s extensive portfolio of 3D printing technologies and materials.

Job Responsibility:

  • Use your expertise to develop and implement the applicable sourcing strategy
  • Once an order is placed, you will be responsible to aid production in troubleshooting order execution to ensure customer success
  • Interface directly with 3D printing shops, internal staff members and management, as well as customers
  • Take on special projects related to expanding the capabilities of our manufacturing partner network, working with OEM equipment makers, and our internal team of experts to improve our core competencies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, technical or related field preferred
  • 5+ years in engineering and manufacturing environment in 3D printing, preferably at a multi-technology 3D printing shop
  • Knowledge will include optimum 3D printing technology and material selections, printing cycle times, material limitations and costs and geometry limitations
  • Experience working with suppliers, OEM equipment providers, and customers
  • Experience with 3D printing software is necessary (Materialise Magics, Rhino - Rhinoceros 3D)
  • Ability to identify design for manufacturing (DFM) issues based on 3D models and drawings
  • Ability to work with customers on the fly and solve problems quickly
  • Exceptional communication English skills
  • Able to work with Partners in troubleshooting production issues and answering partner questions
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced start-up environment

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of GD&T and inspection/QA practices of the USA is a plus
  • Experience with general 3D CAD modeling software is a plus (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Prior experience in Design for Manufacturing 3D Printed components is a plus
  • Injection Molding experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with different types of post-processing and finishes for printed parts
  • Material selection knowledge is a plus
  • Experience with Aerospace manufacturing/requirements is a plus
