Our vacancies are in the Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture teams. Marine vessels represent some of the most complex manufactured assets in the world and as such provide interesting, challenging and rewarding work for the people that design, build and support them through life. As an apprentice in our engineering teams, you will have the opportunity to be involved in projects across the lifecycle of various types of vessels and across different sectors. You will be helping to solve our customers’ problems and delivering them innovative, bespoke solutions. Working alongside our clients, we often start with a blank sheet of paper and sketch their ideas and concepts to map the path to delivering the solution.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and apply a breadth of engineering skills
Use software and technologies to help solve complex engineering problems
Contribute to developing designs for the next generation of vessels and platforms, and to maintaining and improving the design of existing ships and submarines
Keep up-to-date with future technologies and how they could be incorporated into our designs
Be part of a team interacting directly with our customers at meetings and during surveys of ships and submarines
Help develop in-service modifications for in-service naval and commercial marine vessels
Be part of the development of the ‘clean maritime’ engineering and integration solution
Requirements:
A minimum GCSE (or equivalent) grade 4 (C) and above in Mathematics, English and Science-based subjects
A minimum GCSE (or equivalent) grade 4 (C) or above in Mathematics and English
A-Levels - Grade C or above in Mathematics plus a pass in one of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Computing/Computer Science, Design and Technology, Electronics, Engineering, ICT, Further Mathematics, Music Technology, Physics, Statistics. You must have a minimum of two A-levels
T Levels - Grade C in A-Level Mathematics, in addition to your T Level qualification. If you have or are looking to partially complete your T-Level, you are still required to have the equivalent to 2 full A-Levels as part of our minimum entry requirements
Tariff Points – A minimum of 112 Tarif Points required
EDXCEL (BTEC) Diploma- One of the following BTEC Diplomas: Aeronautical Engineering, Applied Science, Construction and the Built Environment, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Land-based Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations and Maintenance Engineering. Must include Merit in one of the following units: Further Engineering Mathematics or Further Mathematics for Construction
Access - Achievement of the HE Diploma
to include 30 Level 3 credits at Merit including 15 in Mathematics and 15 in another science or technology subject
