We are seeking a highly skilled Design and Release Engineer (DRE) with expertise in chassis systems, specifically suspension and axle components, to join our automotive engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of chassis components from concept through production. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers, and vehicle integration teams.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the design, development, and release of suspension and axle components, ensuring they meet performance, durability, and cost targets
Utilize CAD software (such as CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks) to create 3D models and 2D drawings for chassis systems
Develop and execute DFMEA, DVP&R, and design validation plans to ensure component reliability and compliance with industry standards
Work closely with suppliers to ensure component manufacturability and resolve technical issues
Conduct design reviews and provide recommendations for design enhancements and weight/cost reductions
Support vehicle-level integration and packaging of chassis components, ensuring compatibility with other vehicle systems
Collaborate with CAE and simulation teams to analyze structural integrity, durability, and NVH characteristics
Ensure adherence to regulatory and safety standards related to chassis and suspension design
Support prototype builds and oversee testing activities, analyzing results to drive design improvements
Manage engineering change requests (ECRs) and work with cross-functional teams to implement changes efficiently
Document and maintain engineering specifications, design guidelines, and best practices
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
3+ years of experience in chassis system design, with a focus on suspension and axles
Proficiency in CAD modeling and drafting (CATIA, NX, or equivalent)
Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T related to chassis components
Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, and APQP methodologies
Familiarity with vehicle dynamics and structural analysis for chassis systems
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams
Understanding of automotive safety and regulatory standards
Nice to have:
Hands-on experience with vehicle builds, prototype testing, and validation is a plus
