Job Description:

Demi Chef position in Western Kitchen at The St. Regis Hong Kong, responsible for supervising kitchen staff, food presentation, quality control, and kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of service and safety.

Job Responsibility:

Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers
Determine how food should be presented and create decorative food displays
Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish
Monitor quantity of food prepared
Inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out of stock items
Prepare special meals or substitute items
Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks
Provide cooks with needed items
Monitor stock of kitchen supplies and food
Maintain kitchen logs for food safety program
Ensure quality of food items and notify manager of issues
Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating employees
Follow company safety and security policies
Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries
Ensure uniform and personal appearance are professional
Address guests' service needs
Develop positive working relationships
Support team to reach common goals

Requirements:

Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree
4 to 6 years of related work experience
At least 2 years of supervisory experience
Ability to supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers
Knowledge of food presentation and decorative food displays
Ability to ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish
Experience monitoring food quantities and kitchen supplies
Ability to maintain kitchen logs for food safety programs
Experience in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating employees
Physical ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
Ability to reach overhead and below knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds
