Job Description:

Somerset Passenger Solutions provides the passenger transport needs for one of the largest construction projects in Europe – Hinkley Point C. We safely transport thousands of clients to and from the site every day, providing a 24/7 service. We are also providing a service for the UK’s next nuclear new build in Suffolk – Sizewell C. As the delegate examiner, you will be fully responsible for carrying out theory and practical testing of trainee PCV drivers. You will need to remain up to date with road traffic legislation and advise on training and practical test best practice in accordance with DVSA standards. This role will suit a competent PCV driver who is committed to road safety, has strong customer service skills and can multi-task in a pressurised environment. Your ability to remain calm whilst providing much needed reassurance to learner drivers during a driving test is key. Your knowledge, skills and judgement will determine if a candidate is ready and safe to take to the road alone.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conducting PCV driving tests in line with DVSA standards
  • Coaching and supporting existing colleagues to maintain the DVSA standards
  • Carrying out theory tests to ensure a demonstrable knowledge of the highway code, vehicle safety and vehicle operations whilst adhering to the standard of the Road Traffic Act 1988
  • Providing guidance and assistance to the training team in relation to PCV standards, driving instruction techniques and best practice
  • Remaining abreast with commercial and legislative changes to vehicles, test requirements, equal opportunities and advising on company procedures
  • Offering advice, guidance and training on vehicle familiarisation, as well as instruction on the correct use of service performance and control systems
  • Assisting with the Driving Quality Monitoring processes - identifying and communicating on trends and making recommendations on improving driving standards
  • Delivering classroom modules in areas of driving standards and continued professional development

Requirements:

  • Valid UK PCV licence & CPC (minimum 3 years recent experience)
  • Experience of working in a high pressure environment
  • Understanding of driver regulations and compliance
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team
  • Experience in collation and analysis of data
  • If not held, must be prepared to obtain DVSA Driving Examiners Course (training can be provided)
  • Flexibility to cover both locations (Bridgwater & Ipswich)

Nice to have:

  • Completed the DVSA Driving Examiners Course (training can be provided)
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Qualification in Education & Training Level 3
  • Advanced Driving Level 2
  • Competent in Microsoft Office 365
  • First Aid trained
