STR is hiring a Cyber Emulation Engineer Co-Op who will work as part of project teams with mentorship from experienced staff starting July 1st, 2026. Co-Ops will also collaborate with technical experts to solve problems related to emulation, reverse engineering, binary analysis, software development, vulnerability research and cyber defense. Additional duties will include providing support on all phases of projects, problem design, solution discovery, development of prototype algorithms and systems in software and/or hardware experimentation and data analysis and system implementation/integration for test and fielded systems.
Job Responsibility:
Work as part of project teams with mentorship from experienced staff
Collaborate with technical experts to solve problems related to emulation, reverse engineering, binary analysis, software development, vulnerability research and cyber defense
Providing support on all phases of projects, problem design, solution discovery, development of prototype algorithms and systems in software and/or hardware experimentation and data analysis and system implementation/integration for test and fielded systems
Requirements:
Strong academic record and interest in system emulation, virtualization or other security-related topics
Hands on experience with or coursework in systems programming and the ability to read and write assembly
Proficiency in Python for software development
Background/experience in one of the following areas: emulation, reverse engineering, binary analysis, software development, vulnerability research and cyber defense
Enrollment in a BS, MS or PhD degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
Nice to have:
Experience with debugging and dynamic analysis of software/firmware
Knowledge of additional programming languages: C, C++, non-x86 assembly
Hands-on experience with or coursework in QEMU, virtualization, or reverse engineering tools
