Job Description:

The Country Finance Officer and Controller is responsible for all aspects of Finance in Nigeria driving legal entity performance, ensuring all Financial control processes are in place, delivering accurate, complete/timely local financial, statutory and regulatory reporting as per the applicable local rules and local / IFRS accounting standards with sound controls, as well as developing Finance talent and bench strength for the country.

Job Responsibility:

Managing all Finance activities and local reporting for Nigeria
Monitoring legal entity economic conditions and financial performance
Managing legal entity's finance requirements including regulatory reporting obligations
Ensuring compliance with local capital requirements
Supporting Finance activities for Local Regulatory Processes
Participating in Country Franchise governance committees and board meetings
Acting as strategic partner with businesses
Assessing risk when making business decisions
Managing engagement with local regulatory bodies
Collaborating with external and internal auditors

Requirements:

Minimum 15 years post-qualification experience in banking Finance Department
Strong knowledge of banking products and businesses
Strong knowledge of risk and controls
Knowledge of bank's systems (e.g., Flexcube, Smart)
Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification
Strong financial accounting background
Minimum 12 years within banking sector with 2 years as DGM/VP
Experience in at least 3 major areas of banking operations
Good accounting technical skills
Strong leadership skills
Financial modelling and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal and communications skills (English or Arabic)
Ability to manage and motivate a team
Good teamwork and project management skills
Ability to influence
