The Corporate PR Specialist will handle all media inquiries and manage the press office, taking ownership of corporate press requests, responding promptly to journalists, and preparing statements. Responsibilities include drafting media responses, coordinating with internal stakeholders, acting as spokesperson, writing press releases, and managing crisis communication. The role also involves tracking PR impacts and guiding external agency partners.
Job Responsibility:
Monitor and manage the press office (incoming media calls/e-mails) on a daily basis
Evaluate and prioritize all incoming requests - from journalist inquiries to customer complaints or sponsoring topics - and route them to the right people in the organization
Take full ownership of corporate press requests: assess urgency and relevance, decide who to involve, and drive the response process from start to finish
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather facts, context, and approvals
Draft and deliver clear, timely media responses and statements
Act as a company spokesperson for interviews (training provided)
Write and publish press releases
Maintain and update the company’s online press newsroom
Create holding statements for sensitive or crisis communication needs
Represent the company at media events or press meetings
Collaborate with and steer external PR agency partners
Compile and analyze monthly PR reporting to track visibility and impact
Stay on top of current affairs and media trends to identify opportunities to position IKEA stories proactively - and raise potential issues internally to ensure readiness
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of experience in PR, journalism, or corporate communications
Strong editorial judgment and ability to assess the news value of topics
Excellent written and verbal communication in German and English
French would be a strong asset
Confident in dealing with journalists via phone, email, and in person
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of media responses
Able to act as a company spokesperson (or willing to be trained for it)
Natural relationship builder with excellent social skills
Experience writing press releases and holding statements
Ability to develop corporate topics into media-worthy stories
Curious, proactive, structured, and collaborative
Nice to have:
