Citi is seeking a Corporate Banking Associate for its Real Estate and Lodging team. The Associate supports coverage bankers in originating, structuring, and executing financing and risk solutions across the commercial real estate (CRE) ecosystem—including REITs, private developers, fund managers, and real estate operating companies. The group focuses on real estate properties and developments in diverse industries, such as data centers, hospitality, retail, office, industrial, healthcare, self-storage and other property types within the commercial real estate industry. The applicant will work with various groups across the firm to originate, structure, syndicate, and close transactions. The role combines credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, and client execution to deliver tailored solutions such as corporate credit facilities, acquisition financing, restructurings and leveraged buy outs, in addition to hedging, risk management and capital markets products. The Corporate Banking Associate is an intermediate level professional responsible for leading the planning of investment strategies and solutions for major market clients in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. The overall objective of this role is to drive revenue by cross selling the Citi platform while efficiently deploying the firm's capital and evaluating and managing risk.
Job Responsibility:
Support bankers in the end-to-end deal process: pitch development, financial modeling, due diligence, term sheet drafting, underwriting memos, syndication materials, and closing documentation
Prepare client-ready materials (pitch decks, transaction cases, market updates) with crisp narratives and data-driven insights
Coordinate with product partners to deliver integrated solutions across loans, capital markets, derivatives products and cash management
Responsible for evaluating public filings, research reports, operations, business plans, and financial forecasts to produce strategic and financial analyses
Responsible for staying abreast of market and industry trends, “best practices” and competitive landscape
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Requirements:
5-8 years of experience
MBA or Master's Degree in Business preferred
Strong credit skills, credit background and knowledge of Citi’s credit policies
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Series 79 and 63 within 90 days of joining
Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
