Job Description:

The leading agriculture consulting and R&D firm of Southeast Asia is looking for a Corn Production Specialist to further strengthen our Vietnam team of agriculture consultants supporting farmers in improving their agriculture practices.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide knowledge and agricultural technologies to corn farmers to enhance the performance of their corn production
  • Implement Research and Development (R&D) activities, such as trials, data collection and training of farmers related to the production and post-harvest handling of corn intended for animal feed production
  • Data collection form farmers and other parties involved in a corn supply chain
  • Setup and monitor trials related to corn production and drying of corn
  • Provide technical support to corn farmers and farmer groups
  • Develop and provide training to corn farmers and farmer groups
  • Arrange field days to share new knowledge and technologies to local corn farmers and other interested persons
  • Support any other assigned activities
  • Mapping of current corn supply chain
  • Analyse the characteristics and financial performance of all actors active in the corn supply chain from input supply till the delivery of corn at an animal feed mill
  • Identification of bottlenecks or opportunities to enhance the current corn supply chain and create a value chain
  • Cost benefit analysis and financial analysis of investments to enhance corn production and post-harvest management (drying)

Requirements:

  • Graduated in Horticulture or Agriculture production technologies / economics (BSc)
  • At least 5-year experience related to corn production and or post-harvest management of corn
  • Excellent in both verbal and written Vietnamese
  • Good English communication in verbal and writing communication
  • Good communication skills (with local farmers)
  • A strong passion to learn and develop new agriculture technologies and knowledge and make them available for farmers
  • Basic word, Excel, PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to work on your own as well as part of a team
  • Trustworthy

Nice to have:

  • MSc level is an advantage
  • Experience in providing extension services to farmers, such as training of famers and or experience in financial analyse of agricultural production systems is an advantage.
