We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Rockville, Maryland. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and enhance financial operations within a dynamic construction environment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving financial strategy, ensuring compliance, and supporting the company’s ambitious growth plans.
Job Responsibility:
Manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions
Oversee financial processes specific to construction, such as job costing, work-in-progress schedules, subcontractor compliance, change orders, and accruals
Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and timeliness
Support budgeting and forecasting efforts, including conducting variance analyses to monitor financial performance
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and compliance standards
Provide mentorship and leadership to the accounting team, fostering a culture aligned with company values
Collaborate on strategic initiatives such as entering new markets, managing acquisitions, and upgrading systems
Optimize and implement accounting systems to accommodate organizational growth and expansion
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with leadership responsibilities
In-depth knowledge of construction accounting practices, including work-in-progress schedules and job costing
Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams in mid-sized to large general contractor organizations
Demonstrated experience in scaling systems and processes to support business growth
Strong integrity, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills
Hands-on approach to leadership, maintaining close connections with both office and field operations
