Job Description:

We’re working with an established and growing client in the construction industry to find a Controller who will oversee their financial operations and play a critical role in their continued success.

Job Responsibility:

Lead financial planning initiatives, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Manage processes related to percentage of completion, WIP (Work-In-Progress), and job costing analysis
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, tax laws, and company policies
Oversee preparation for audits and manage reporting to stakeholders
Oversee the utilization of accounting systems, including construction-specific ERP platforms, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy
Mentor and coach accounting staff, building a collaborative and efficient team environment
Develop internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure regulatory adherence
Partner with leadership and project managers to provide insights and recommendations that improve profitability and operational decisions

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field
5+ years of experience in accounting leadership roles, preferably within the construction or project-based industry
Proficiency in job cost accounting, percentage of completion method, and WIP reporting
Advanced knowledge of accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, QuickBooks) and Excel
Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop accounting teams
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with leadership, project teams, vendors, and external stakeholders

Nice to have:

Experience in construction payroll and subcontractor payment processes
Familiarity with construction contracts and bank draws
Track record of implementing process improvements to streamline financial operations
