Job Description:

The Controller will work closely with the Owner and other members of the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient financial operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supervising the production and accuracy of financial documents, such as balance sheets and income statements
  • Overseeing the preparation of federal, state and local tax returns and remaining informed about tax laws
  • Support accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing
  • Monitor project cost accounting, including tracking job costs and analyzing variances
  • Assist in the formulation and documentation of internal controls and policies to comply with industry regulations and established best practices
  • Manage journal entries and reconcile accounts for the monthly and annual closing
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Participate in financial audits, preparing audit schedules and documentation
  • Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies
  • Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies
  • Utilize the ERP system to facilitate processes and maintain records
  • Provide leadership and guidance to accounting staff and support their professional development

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • CPA or CCIFP certification preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in construction accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, construction industry regulations and financial reporting requirements
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise and MS Excel
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
