Job Description:

We’re looking for a creative and tech-savvy Content Designer II to join the Teams organization on the Calling, Meetings, and Devices content design team. In this role, you’ll lead end-to-end content design and strategy across product experiences, including messaging frameworks, naming, content patterns, terminology, audits, information architecture, UI strings, and in-product guidance. You’ll contribute your language expertise to improving LLM outputs and evaluation frameworks. You’ll also contribute to design systems and help evolve our content standards to support a global, diverse user base. Throughout your product-making, you’ll partner closely with designers, PMs, researchers, engineers, and applied and data scientists to shape intuitive, inclusive, and scalable experiences.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop brilliantly clear UX language that adheres to the Microsoft voice and tone principles, including labels, onboarding flows, promotional messages, error messages, and instructional guidance that supports the full end-to-end product experience
  • Define and develop AI system instructions that guide LLM experiences and ensure quality AI output
  • Define and drive the vision for product language and content for a set of experiences and products. Create clear guidelines to document your strategy, and establish best practices and principles to ensure cohesive, user-centered narratives
  • Lead projects by identifying opportunities, setting priorities, and managing partners to ensure successful outcomes
  • Collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers to define requirements against core user journeys
  • Present work to cross-discipline partners and leadership
  • Help develop UX concepts or early-stage experiences
  • Weave user insights, engineering constraints, business needs, and platform constraints into your content design
  • Understand and effectively use our content model, content types, style guide, and brand voice
  • Provide data-informed insights to improve existing experiences
  • Proactively communicate priorities and trade-offs—and adjust as you get feedback
  • Represent the content design discipline with composure, curiosity, humility, and a growth mindset
  • Understand the broader context of your work and always map your activities to both customer needs and business goals
  • Evangelize brand, voice, style, and UX standards among partner teams to raise content and product quality
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity, know your strengths, and have a point of view
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to other Content Designers

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree or foundational study in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Communications, or related field of study OR equivalent experience
  • Proven years of experience writing end-user facing UX copy (applications, web apps, ecommerce, etc.), product design, content strategy
  • Strong partner-management skills
  • Strong content design portfolio of both individual and team-based work that demonstrates the ability to handle complex and novel user experiences with creativity, excellent execution, and strong language skills
  • Proficient with Figma and Microsoft Office products
  • English fluency (you'll need to be able to write in N. American English, specifically, as this is the standard for Microsoft products)

Nice to have:

  • Experience creating AI-specific frameworks (conversational AI responses to user inputs and prompts)
  • Experience or training in design thinking methodology
  • Experience in customer research
  • Experience creating products for large enterprises preferred
  • Experience with prompt engineering/creation preferred
