We’re looking for a creative and tech-savvy Content Designer II to join the Teams organization on the Calling, Meetings, and Devices content design team. In this role, you’ll lead end-to-end content design and strategy across product experiences, including messaging frameworks, naming, content patterns, terminology, audits, information architecture, UI strings, and in-product guidance. You’ll contribute your language expertise to improving LLM outputs and evaluation frameworks. You’ll also contribute to design systems and help evolve our content standards to support a global, diverse user base. Throughout your product-making, you’ll partner closely with designers, PMs, researchers, engineers, and applied and data scientists to shape intuitive, inclusive, and scalable experiences.
Job Responsibility:
Develop brilliantly clear UX language that adheres to the Microsoft voice and tone principles, including labels, onboarding flows, promotional messages, error messages, and instructional guidance that supports the full end-to-end product experience
Define and develop AI system instructions that guide LLM experiences and ensure quality AI output
Define and drive the vision for product language and content for a set of experiences and products. Create clear guidelines to document your strategy, and establish best practices and principles to ensure cohesive, user-centered narratives
Lead projects by identifying opportunities, setting priorities, and managing partners to ensure successful outcomes
Collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers to define requirements against core user journeys
Present work to cross-discipline partners and leadership
Help develop UX concepts or early-stage experiences
Weave user insights, engineering constraints, business needs, and platform constraints into your content design
Understand and effectively use our content model, content types, style guide, and brand voice
Provide data-informed insights to improve existing experiences
Proactively communicate priorities and trade-offs—and adjust as you get feedback
Represent the content design discipline with composure, curiosity, humility, and a growth mindset
Understand the broader context of your work and always map your activities to both customer needs and business goals
Evangelize brand, voice, style, and UX standards among partner teams to raise content and product quality
Be comfortable with ambiguity, know your strengths, and have a point of view
Provide leadership and mentorship to other Content Designers
Requirements:
BA/BS degree or foundational study in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Communications, or related field of study OR equivalent experience
Proven years of experience writing end-user facing UX copy (applications, web apps, ecommerce, etc.), product design, content strategy
Strong partner-management skills
Strong content design portfolio of both individual and team-based work that demonstrates the ability to handle complex and novel user experiences with creativity, excellent execution, and strong language skills
Proficient with Figma and Microsoft Office products
English fluency (you'll need to be able to write in N. American English, specifically, as this is the standard for Microsoft products)
Nice to have:
Experience creating AI-specific frameworks (conversational AI responses to user inputs and prompts)
Experience or training in design thinking methodology
Experience in customer research
Experience creating products for large enterprises preferred
Experience with prompt engineering/creation preferred
Experience leading workshops with content design peers and cross-discipline partners
