The Controller will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial management functions. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a growing company environment and enjoys building processes, improving systems, and partnering with ownership to drive profitability. The ideal candidate has construction industry experience, understands job costing and project-based accounting, and is comfortable working in both strategic and day-to-day accounting functions.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable
Process payroll on a weekly basis
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Manage month-end and year-end close processes
Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP
Oversee job cost accounting and WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting
Monitor project budgets, cost tracking, and variance analysis
Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost forecasting
Support bid analysis and profitability assessments
Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital
Develop and monitor company budgets
Improve accounting systems and implement scalable processes
Partner with ownership to support strategic planning and growth initiatives
Coordinate with external CPA for tax preparation and audits
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
may consider experience in exchange for degree
10+ years of accounting experience
at least 2–3 years in the construction industry
Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting
Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Foundation, QuickBooks Construction)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a growing company environment
