The Composite Technician II works with new aircraft parts, using oven processes, fabricating of aircraft component molds, and vacuum techniques, and maintains and repairs composite aircraft components made of fiberglass and other carbon materials. Responsible for understanding Army technical manuals, drawings and blueprints, and have working knowledge of precision tools.
Job Responsibility:
Perform lay-up techniques that include pre-pregs or wet lay-up, cutting, bagging, and/or trimming operations or machine operations
Layout, pre-fits, assembles and casts polyurethane and like material on a variety of molds and surfaces
Load and operate presses, ovens, and autoclaves
Select tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions
Handle regulated and hazardous wastes and materials
Safely work in a team environment rigging, lifting, and transporting large parts and equipment
Use computers to record data (excel), track time (Auto-time)
Perform casting of materials to fabricate parts and/or for repair applications
Fabricate polyurethane and like materials into subassemblies for the purpose of pre-fitting in preparation for bonding
Perform complex composite lay-up, vacuum bagging, cutting, repair, autoclave and / or trimming
Verify work to ensure a defect free part prior to presenting to quality control (inspection)
Read and interpret drawings and technical manuals.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Composite certification from accredited college
3-5 years of experience in composite manufacturing repairs
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
Ability to work overtime when required.
