Job Description:

Play a vital role in ensuring deaf and hearing-impaired students can fully access, engage with and thrive in their learning. Provide high-quality British Sign Language (BSL) support across a range of programmes and courses, helping students to communicate confidently and participate fully in college life.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver clear and accurate BSL signing in learning environments
  • Use a range of creative support strategies to adapt tasks, resources and activities
  • Encourage and motivate students to develop independence and confidence
  • Work closely with ALS tutors and teaching staff to tailor support effectively
  • Contribute to EHCP In-Year Reviews for students with hearing impairment
  • Attend and support communication in Annual Reviews
  • Act as an advocate for students, helping their voices be heard
  • Provide clear and effective BSL signing support to individuals and groups
  • Enable learners to fully access their curriculum and college experience
  • Inspire confidence, independence and engagement in learning
  • Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to tailor support
  • Make a meaningful contribution to the development of teaching and learning across EKC Group
  • Use your understanding of Additional Learning Support to remove barriers and unlock potential

Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL)
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated
  • Motivated and imaginative signer
  • Genuine passion for helping students succeed
  • Experience in personal care, mobility assistance, or meeting medical/feeding needs is an advantage

Nice to have:

  • Experience supporting with personal care
  • Experience assisting with mobility
  • Experience meeting specific medical or feeding needs
