Job Description:

Class 1 Driver – The Timber Group Herringswell (IP28 6SS) - Drive it. Deliver it. Keep the yard moving and the customers happy – you're the one behind the wheel making it all happen! We’re on the lookout for a skilled Class 1 HGV Driver to take the wheel for long-haul and regional deliveries. You’ll be making sure goods get where they need to be safely and on time, driving an articulated vehicle with confidence. It’s a key role in our logistics team, helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Safely driving a Class 1 HGV across local and long-distance routes
  • Loading and unloading goods with the right kit
  • Carrying out daily vehicle checks and flagging any issues
  • Keeping delivery records tidy and up to date
  • Sticking to road rules and transport regs
  • Staying in touch with dispatch and warehouse teams
  • Making sure deliveries arrive on time and in great condition

Requirements:

  • Valid UK Class 1 (Category C+E) HGV licence
  • Driver CPC
  • Digital tachograph card
  • Experience behind the wheel of an HGV
  • Knowledge of UK roads and driving regulations
  • Confident working independently
  • Good time management
  • Great communication and customer service skills
  • Physically fit for manual loading and unloading
  • Ability to pitch in with other tasks when needed
  • Adherence to health and safety guidelines

Nice to have:

  • Experience with multi-drop deliveries
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance

  • Correctly completing all necessary paperwork associated with the work you have undertaken correctly (weighbridge slips, poultry transport certificates etc)
  • Maintaining good communication with the transport office with regards to issues or delays
