Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced CICS System Programmer to support and maintain IBM CICS Transaction Server (CICS TS) environments on z/OS. This role involves installation, customization, maintenance, and performance tuning of CICS to support critical enterprise applications. The successful candidate will collaborate with application developers, DB2 DBAs, MQ administrators, z/OS system programmers, and operations teams to ensure the continuous stability and optimal performance of our online transaction processing systems.

Job Responsibility:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade IBM CICS Transaction Server (CICS TS) on z/OS
  • Customize and maintain CICS regions, exits, and related system components
  • Monitor and tune CICS performance, ensuring high availability and responsiveness
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system and application-related issues within CICS environments
  • Implement and maintain CICS security using RACF or equivalent tools
  • Work with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployment and integration
  • Create and maintain system documentation, job procedures, and recovery processes
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Provide on-call support and after-hours assistance for critical issues or scheduled maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, audit requirements, and best practices

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience as a CICS Systems Programmer in a z/OS mainframe environment
  • Deep knowledge of CICS TS architecture, internals, and system exits
  • Strong expertise in CICS installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Proficient in SMP/E, JCL, REXX, and mainframe scripting languages
  • Experience with CICS performance tuning and monitoring tools
  • Understanding of z/OS subsystems including DB2, MQ, and JES2/JES3
  • Familiarity with automation, job scheduling, and monitoring tools
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with ITIL processes (Change, Incident, and Problem Management)

Nice to have:

  • IBM Certified Specialist – CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (desired)
  • Experience in regulated environments (e.g., finance, healthcare, government)
  • Familiarity with DevOps integration in mainframe environments
