Microsoft Corporation has an immediate opening for a Business Operations Director to join its National Security & Trust (NST) team. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail oriented, and capable of simplifying complex work processes to drive operational excellence at scale. This position is based in Reston, Virginia. The role will lead cross-functional initiatives, optimize operational processes, and drive strategic business outcomes. This role will manage key performance metrics and collaborate with leadership to ensure alignment between business goals and execution. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, exceptional leadership abilities, and a proven track record in operational excellence.
Job Responsibility:
Implement NST internal and external communication and mechanisms, such as Monthly Business Reviews, Key Performance Indicators, as well as industrial security process creation, workflow change management, and escalation procedures
Works with program security teams to identify efficiencies and opportunities for automation that enhance Microsoft’s National Industrial Security Program
Helps teams maintain the rhythm of business (ROB) during plan execution to ensure participants and stakeholders are communicating and responding according to the necessary cadence
Helps teams leverage data and performance metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results [OKRs] and Monthly Business Reviews to demonstrate the value of NST industrial security programs and show business impact. Helps teams adapt communication style and storytelling strategy according to audience and business needs
Collaborates and assists NST team leadership with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Operations Program Management, Attorneys and Engineering) to execute and improve NST operations execution
Helps teams understand overall business goals, objectives, and strategies, as well as short-and long-term business priorities. Coaches teams to understand and identify current program risks, impact, and mitigation plans impacting the broader teams’ performance
Leads teams to identify and adapt to new processes and improve current ones impacting the broader organization. Coaches teams to identify and resolve root problems (e.g., root-cause analysis), and improve existing operations by applying industry methodology, defining program issues, assessing various scenarios, and selecting the optimal scenario to resolve issues. Leads teams to drive clarity in complex program issues and strive for simplification
Manages operations, project and vendor budgets, determines capacity and scheduling plans, as well as other administrative responsibilities
Leads and coordinates business process change management including identifying and facilitating subject matter experts in a portfolio of projects including the project plan, timelines, milestones, performance metrics, and resource needs for programs. Ensures capacity of the team is aligned to project workload and complexity
Develops, implements, and refines operational processes for efficiency and scalability
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience
Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: - The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. 5+ years’ experience with the operation and monitoring of compliance programs
Experience interpreting and aligning programs to Intelligence Community Directives, Department of War policies (DD254s, Cognizant Security Authorities), NISPOM.
