Job Description:

This position will maintain in good working condition all facility equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical, lighting and climate control systems, roofing systems, telecommunications, and maintenance cleaning equipment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Repairs and maintains all facility systems and equipment
  • Inspects systems throughout facility to detect malfunctions or breakdowns
  • Investigates malfunctions or breakdowns of systems to diagnose causes and locate the source of the problem
  • Implements corrective actions and solutions
  • Anticipates potential malfunctions or breakdowns and takes appropriate action to prevent or minimize curtailment of services
  • Operates auxiliary supply systems when a breakdown occurs
  • Coordinates shutdown and start-ups of utilities when conditions require it
  • Assist with electrical, plumbing, painting, renovations and general maintenance needs as required with the operations maintenance staff workload
  • Follows procedures for use of Work Orders and ASM Global Maintenance Manager Systems
  • Adheres to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes
  • Responsible for operating HVAC chiller, ICE Chiller, and Cooling Towers
  • Assists with set up and take down flooring, portable chairs, operable walls, barricades, staging, tables, telephones, and other equipment for the successful execution of events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited technical school preferred
  • 1+ year hands-on experience in maintenance
  • Experience operating a forklift, scissor lift or other similar heavy machinery
  • Basic understanding of door hardware, locks, door closes, etc.
  • Understand and be capable of insuring that all laws, building codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management and emergency procedures are followed
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and other related materials
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedules
  • Work independently with limited supervision, exercising judgment and initiative
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to normal business hours
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills necessary
  • Desire to work hard to produce consistent, quality results
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through with a 'can do' attitude
  • Must be able to maintain PCI compliance
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Possesses a strong attention to detail and the ability and initiative to maintain the facility as a first-class facility
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills as well as writing skills
  • Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills required
  • ability to interact with all levels of staff including management
  • Ability to adhere to strict grooming standards established by ASM/KCC
  • Proficient with Microsoft word, excel and outlook
  • Able to navigate a computer and learn how to operate maintenance programs
  • Familiar with operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility
