Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
At least 1+ years experience
Must be available to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary
Ability to stand, walk, sit
Ability to use hands or feet
Ability to reach with hands and arms
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs as needed
Ability to maintain all safety expectations
Works outdoors for extended periods

Job Responsibility

Identify and mark the location of underground utilities such as water, gas, electric, and telecommunications lines
Operate excavation equipment (Mini excavator, trencher, bore machine hydro-vac, etc)
Walk and confirm bore path with bore operator, spot utilities
Ensure proper clearances to install the product per standards
Record the depth of the tool head as required (bore logs)
Ensure the drill head is in a good position at the exit pit to connect the product
Oversee laborer's and/or crew members' work and monitor time usage
Place conduit and/or cables in trenches, splice conduits sections (install couplers) as directed, and place ground rods, pedestals, vaults, etc. to complete construction tasks
Must be able to operate tamps, jackhammers, core drills, concrete saws, and other miscellaneous equipment safely
Hand dig with shovels, picks, and digging bars to expose located utilities, access u/g vaults and pedestals, and complete trenches

Job Responsibility

Run a small crew of 4 to 6 people installing fiber optic cable in the right of way (R.O.W.) utilizing directional boring equipment and excavating equipment
Use other miscellaneous machinery to locate utility lines to avoid damages
When directional boring isn’t required, install inner duct & fiber optic cable within telecommunication manholes
Ensure industry safety procedures are followed
Verify all vehicles & equipment are operational & in good standing
Determine the best way to accomplish the task and verify it is done properly

Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A) with a satisfactory driving record
Self-motivated, safe, quality, and production-minded
Ability to work and communicate as part of a team with groundsmen, and other craft and labor workers
Ability to manage time effectively

Minimum 1-year prior experience using the locating equipment to find any underground utilities
Must have experience operating heavy equipment near active utilities
Must have CATV / Spectrum experience
Must be familiar with locate systems
Ability to operate an asphalt roller, skid steer, backhoe, mini excavator, vacuum truck, bore machine, and other heavy equipment
Must have a valid driver’s license
Possession of a commercial driver's license (CDL) with tanker endorsement or a willingness to obtain the license
