Job Description:

As our Backend Engineer, you’ll build and own critical features end-to-end, increasing product velocity and powering DualEntry’s AI-native ERP. This is an intense, hands-on role with full ownership. You’ll be joining at an early and defining moment. Your work will directly shape our product, customers, and trajectory.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design and build core backend systems using Python
  • Build APIs, services, and infrastructure handling real-time, business-critical accounting logic
  • Launch production-ready features from scratch, including CI/CD and deployment
  • Turn complex finance workflows into performant, secure systems
  • Manage complexity in a business-logic-heavy product, including migrations and scale
  • Integrate third-party tools and external systems while proactively managing risk
  • Own work from architecture to testing, monitoring, and post-release care
  • Collaborate closely with founders, product, and frontend to co-design systems and ship seamlessly
  • Ship fast, make architectural calls, and deploy to prod daily

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience
  • Deep experience with complex business-logic products
  • Proficient in Python and modern frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django)
  • Strong AWS (or similar cloud) experience
  • Excellent database skills: PostgreSQL, SQL, ORMs, migrations, schema design
  • Experience building and testing robust APIs
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD and production-readiness
  • Ability to manage complex systems with evolving requirements
  • Fluent in English (C1+) with strong communication skills
  • Pragmatic, curious, fast-moving, and highly focused on execution
