Established in 1991, Bauknight Pietras & Stormer, P.A. (“BPS”) is among the Southeast’s premier accounting and consulting firms and among the largest locally owned public accounting firms in South Carolina. BPS is a strategic partner to clients in the insurance, construction and real estate, employee benefits, hospitality, manufacturing and distribution, professional services, telecommunications, and technology industries. We are currently seeking audit managers in our Columbia, SC office.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supervise all staff members, including making sure that work is delegated effectively and ensuring that training procedures are being followed
  • Assume all responsibility for engagements, including deadlines and other decisions
  • Have extensive contact with clients, striving to meet their needs as efficiently and creatively as possible
  • Handle all client engagements, regardless of complexity, in an efficient, timely, and professional way
  • Being able to perform all administrative and professional functions
  • Prepare staff level performance reviews
  • Exhibiting strong written and oral communication skills (by disseminating information to staff at all levels of the firm, including clients)
  • Preparing engagement budgets
  • Demonstrating the capacity to earn client’s respect and trust, providing opportunities to sell existing clients new services and attract new business to the firm
  • Preparing client billing
  • Working with minimal supervision and identifying major problems to discuss with partners before making decisions

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of recent public accounting experience
  • CPA certification
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and US GAAS
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience managing audit engagements from start to finish while developing staff
