About the team + role The Bitstamp by Robinhood legal team plays a pivotal role in helping the company navigate a complex global regulatory environment for crypto-assets and payment services. Our mission is to provide proactive, strategic legal guidance across jurisdictions to support compliant innovation and long-term growth. We work closely with regulatory bodies, internal partners, and business stakeholders to ensure we meet high standards of integrity and transparency! As an Assistant General Counsel, you will ensure robust legal and regulatory coverage across Bitstamp’s operations in multiple jurisdictions, with a focus on Luxembourg, the British Virgin Islands, the United Kingdom, and Singapore. You will support ongoing compliance, licensing, and product development efforts in a dynamic and evolving regulatory landscape.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as regulatory counsel with a focus on financial and crypto regulation in the EU (primarily Luxembourg and Slovenia, potentially Lithuania) and other relevant markets (e.g. British Virgin Islands, United Kingdom, Singapore)
Manage licensing obligations and regulatory communications, including supervision and correspondence from a legal standpoint
Provide strategic legal advice on the design, development, and modification of products and services in response to evolving regulatory landscapes
Advise and counsel internal stakeholders on crypto-asset services, payment services, and e-money frameworks
Lead or independently support regulatory and product implementation projects, while offering practical, business aligned solutions and anticipating risks
Provide general in-house legal support, including but not limited to corporate governance, litigation support, and contract negotiation and review
Requirements:
Law Degree in any EU jurisdiction
8+ years of experience in an in-house legal role or with a reputable law firm
Deep understanding of crypto-asset regulations and related products
Strong knowledge in corporate, finance, payment, data and consumer protection laws
Fluency in English (written and spoken) and excellent communication skills
Ability to drive a creative and innovative approach by finding different ways to look at problems and design novel solutions
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate legal complexity into clear, practical business advice
Demonstrated proactivity, independence, and effectiveness in a fast-moving, international, and highly regulated environment
Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
