The Assistant Front Desk Manager (Night) is a central part of the Front Office Team. This position manages the staff of the hotel during the overnight shift, responding to guest requests and ensuring standards are met. The Assistant Front Desk Manager ( Night) ensures that staff are highly trained, motivated and supervised. The role manages a variety of positions during overnight and is responsible for understanding the hotel operation as a whole.
Job Responsibility:
Directly manages the activity of the overnight staff - direct oversight of the Front Desk while providing general oversight of all other hotel employees on the third shift
Directs staff
Ensures communications and follow-up with day shift on any problems, guest requests or special requirements
Frequently tours the hotel and monitors the activities of all other departments
Reviews late arrivals, next day early arrivals and departures to plan for the next day’s activities
Coordinates arrivals, departures and billing requirements
Blocks rooms for arrivals and ensures any discrepancies are resolved
Reviews daily arrivals to ensure proper handling of Special Attention Guests, Return Guests, and Groups
Takes action in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction and well-being of hotel guests and employees when senior managers are not available
Resolves customer complaints from all areas of the hotel, handling all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism
Utilizes a variety of computer systems to check guests in and out, run daily reports and select and block rooms for arriving guests
Accepts reservations, changes and cancellations in the absence of Reservations Department Staff
Can answer guest calls and direct them appropriately in the absence of a Communications Operator
Requirements:
Previous experience of 2 years required in the Hospitality Industry and Rooms Division
at least one year in supervisory role and Front Desk knowledge
Strong business acumen, work ethic and communication skills
Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, sound problem solving ability
proficiency in Hotel Property Management Systems such as Opera
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English required
Ability to develop and grow employees into Supervisory and Management positions
