Job Description:

This is a key role in keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and on the road – making sure our passengers enjoy the best possible service.

Job Responsibility:

Control workshop, engineering, and cleaning staff and facilities
Ensure breakdowns and vehicle changeovers are dealt with promptly and efficiently
Carry out mechanical repairs to all company vehicles
Complete Quality Check Audits on repairs and MOT preparations
Ensure all written and electronic documentation is completed
Manage the workshop on a daily basis in a cost-effective and safe manner
Minimise lost mileage and downtime
Rectify driver-reported defects promptly
Ensure all breakdowns are responded to within 10 minutes of notification
Leave all vehicles in a clean and serviceable condition
Assist in ensuring compliance with the Group Engineering Maintenance Manual
Maintain sufficient vehicle availability and liaise with the Traffic team
Ensure security of the building and report maintenance issues
Report dangerous occurrences, near misses, and passenger injuries
Support Health & Safety meetings and ensure compliance with company H&S policies
Carry out the duties of a skilled fitter, including minor body, electrical, and general servicing work

Requirements:

Strong engineering background with proven experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy vehicles, equipment, or machinery
Preferably with knowledge/experience in the Bus or HGV industry
Recognised apprenticeship or vocational qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering or similar. Degree or diploma in engineering/vehicle maintenance also considered
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety (IOSH desirable)
Leadership skills with the ability to supervise, motivate, and develop teams effectively

Nice to have:

Knowledge/experience in the Bus or HGV industry
IOSH qualification
