Job Description:

We’re seeking an Assistant Controller to partner closely with the Controller and CFO to support accounting operations, strengthen GAAP compliance, and help evolve processes within a growing, mission-driven nonprofit organization. This is a hands-on opportunity that will evolve over time.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Help build and strengthen internal controls, policies, procedures, and SOPs
  • Prepare and support financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and reporting
  • Monitor budgets and financial performance to inform leadership decisions
  • Oversee cash flow, AP/AR, and purchasing activities
  • Support annual audits and fixed asset reporting
  • Manage contracts and insurance programs to ensure proper coverage and compliance
  • Partner closely with the Controller to streamline processes and drive continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong GAAP knowledge
  • Working knowledge of government accounting and federal/state/local regulations
  • Experience supporting audits and financial compliance
  • Collaborative communicator, comfortable in a hybrid work environment
  • Ability to build, document, and improve accounting processes and procedures
