Job Description:

The town of Chatham is seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative, and customer service oriented professional to serve as our Assistant Assessor within the Department of Finance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assisting with the valuation process
  • Clerical functions including billing and abatements for Real Estate, Motor Vehicle Excise, Boat Excise, Betterments, and Appellate Tax Board cases
  • Legal postings regarding the assessor division
  • Administering internal office procedures such as consistent classification and valuation of real properties
  • Clerical responsibilities for the Board of Assessor meetings
  • Training division clerical staff

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in business, finance or public administration
  • At least two years’ experience in a municipal assessing office
  • Expected to complete the Massachusetts Accredited Assessor courses within two years of hire
