Job Description:

This is an opportunity for graduates to work as teaching assistants within a mainstream secondary school in Merton, London, supporting children with various speech, communication, and language needs. This role offers hands-on experience and training, particularly suited for those considering a career in clinical or educational psychology, speech and language therapy, or psychotherapy. The contract runs from September 2025 to July 2026 with potential training and mentoring provided throughout the role.

Job Responsibility:

Opportunity to take part and lead specialist interventions in Lego Therapy, Speech and Language, Zones of Regulation & more
Work closely with specialist Teachers, Therapists & Psychologists to best support secondary aged pupils with various needs
Receive training and support from day one – with no day being the same, working across Key Stage 3 – Key Stage 5
Support various students with wide-ranging needs 1-2-1 and in small groups, inside and outside of the classrooms

Requirements:

A graduate with a 1st Class or 2:1 – subject isn’t a barrier, ideally from a reputable university
Good A-Levels and GCSEs – including English at GCSE
Previous experience supporting children, young people or adolescents – Essential
This can be tutoring, nannying, babysitting, volunteering or personal experience
A genuine passion for supporting young people with barriers to learning
An inquisitive, warm and nurturing personality
Must be able to speak confidently and calmly – personality is everything in these roles
