As an Application Engineer with AWC you will support our Industrial Automation product portfolio, with a strong emphasis on Siemens PLCs, drives, and networking solutions. As a technical resource within a leading automation distributor in the Austin market, this role serves as the bridge between our sales team and our customers’ engineering teams. You will provide pre-sales technical support, system design assistance, commissioning guidance, and post-sales troubleshooting. This position requires strong Siemens expertise, hands-on troubleshooting ability, and the confidence to work directly with engineers, maintenance teams, and plant leadership. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Austin, TX.
Job Responsibility:
Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for Siemens automation products
Assist customers with PLC selection, architecture design, and system integration
Program and troubleshoot Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 PLCs
Support configuration of Siemens G120 drives and Profinet networks
Develop basic demo programs and proof-of-concept systems
Conduct customer training sessions and technical workshops
Assist sales representatives with technical proposals and solution positioning
Troubleshoot field issues (remote and on-site)
Maintain strong relationships with local OEMs, system integrators, and end users
Requirements:
3–7+ years of experience in industrial automation
Strong working knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal
Experience with PLC programming, VFD configuration, and industrial Ethernet networks
Ability to read electrical schematics and control panel drawings
Strong troubleshooting skills in live production environments
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally (approx. 25–40%)
