As our Anesthesia Technician, you will provide critical support in the safe and efficient administration of anesthesia, assisting providers with equipment and supplies for diverse surgical and non-surgical cases. Every day, you will prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment, supplies, and medications before, during, and after cases. This includes performing complex procedures under direction (e.g., setting up and assisting with line placement, intubation, extubation), managing supply inventory, room turnover, and patient positioning/transport. To be successful in this vital role, you will demonstrate a thorough understanding of anesthesia equipment and sterile techniques, possess meticulous attention to detail, and exhibit excellent communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Provide critical support in the safe and efficient administration of anesthesia
Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment, supplies, and medications before, during, and after cases
Perform complex procedures under direction (e.g., setting up and assisting with line placement, intubation, extubation)
Manage supply inventory, room turnover, and patient positioning/transport
Assist in the acquisition, preparation, calibration and verification of equipment functionality
Maintain department equipment by evaluating performance and inspecting for defects
Set up, calibrate and verify function of anesthesia machines, invasive/non-invasive hemodynamic monitors, emergency airway equipment and other department equipment
Prepare anesthetic and monitoring equipment and accessories
Disassemble and decontaminate equipment after use
Troubleshoot malfunctioning anesthesia equipment
Perform hand hygiene and use personal protective equipment (PPE)
Under direction, assist with patient care, and invasive/non-invasive patient procedures, using aseptic or sterile technique
Anticipate and proactively plan for the licensed anesthesia provider’s equipment and supply needs
Prepare for the licensed anesthesia provider’s sterile procedures, including instrument set-up, clean up and turnover
Perform anesthetic monitoring to help access the patients’ condition while under anesthesia
Connect and operate invasive hemodynamic monitoring equipment under the direction of the licensed anesthesia provider
Assist anesthesia providers with physiological monitoring of patients
Notify anesthesia provider(s) and/or RN of abnormal changes
Assist licensed anesthesia providers in airway management techniques
Assist with transports of invasively-monitored patients
Stock anesthesia supplies in all anesthetizing locations
Follow the guidelines of regulatory bodies for the Environment of Care
Maintain sterile supplies within the expiration date
Inventory, order and maintain departmental supply stock
Maintain current awareness of the location of applicable supplies
Access safety data sheets (SDS) of hazardous materials
Perform some point-of-contact clinical laboratory services
Collect and process patient laboratory tests and results
Print out hemo-dynamic data collection
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and competence
Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited Anesthesia Technology program or Two years of recent related work experience as an Anesthesia Technician or other health care provider (e.g. LPN, EMT, etc.) that would demonstrate possession of the requisite job knowledge/abilities
