Job Description:

A growing food distribution company is looking for an experienced professional for a 100% in-house strategic and operational role, aiming to optimize its ammonia refrigeration system. This is a stable opportunity for a candidate seeking a role that combines strategy, project management, and hands-on maintenance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Coordinate and optimize the company's expanding system
  • Be involved in strategy and project management for maintenance
  • Collaborate with developers and specialists from other plants in Canada and the United States
  • Perform hands-on maintenance and servicing tasks on the plant floor
  • Respond to very rare emergencies (a few times a year, as it is warehousing, not production)

Requirements:

  • Refrigeration Mechanic License (Class A, 1A) or Stationary Engineer (MMF) License (Class A, 1A or B working towards Class A)
  • Essential experience in ammonia refrigeration (100% of the work)
  • Bilingualism: Professional English required for training and collaboration
  • Clear criminal record for serious offenses (due to occasional potential travel to the United States)
  • Open to very occasional travel within Canada and to the United States (if possible)

Nice to have:

  • Open to considering candidates with minor offenses (e.g., impaired driving), especially if travel to the U.S. is not possible
  • An experienced profile, ideally in their forties or fifties, seeking stability
  • The desire to combine a strategic role (optimization, project management) with hands-on work in the field
  • High degree of autonomy and self-reliance
  • Potential for long-term growth, including eventual supervision of an apprentice
What we offer:
  • Overtime compensated with time off (very rare)
  • Group Insurance (after 30 days) – Flexible program, most costs covered by the employer
  • Pension Plan (after 90 days) – Employer matches contributions up to 2% (increases with seniority)
  • Potential Annual Bonus of 10% (based on individual and company performance)
  • Profit Sharing (bonus around the holidays)
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and tools provided by the company
