Job Description:

Under general direction from Nursing Leadership, assists providers during exams. Performs a variety of clinical tasks in support of patient care in out-patient clinics including a variety of technical, procedural and information systems tasks involving patient care functions affecting the comfort, care and safety of patients

Job Responsibility:

  • Assists providers during exams
  • Performs a variety of clinical tasks in support of patient care in out-patient clinics
  • Applies clinical knowledge while assisting provider during exam
  • Attaches patient to diagnostic and medical equipment
  • Provides information, comfort and care to the patient during exam
  • Ensures supplies and equipment are readily available
  • Gives patient provider’s pre-printed instructions for discharge
  • Anticipates and ensures the correct number and type of supplies are available
  • Responsible for efficient room utilization and ensures patient wait time is minimized
  • Escorts patients from the waiting area to exam areas
  • Obtains vital signs
  • Performs diagnostic testing and specimen collection per provider order
  • Accurately labels, logs and processes specimens
  • Enters patient data, condition and care given into electronic medical record system
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned
  • Maintains adequacy of clinical equipment and medical supply levels
  • Conducts inventory of supplies
  • Implements standard infection prevention measures
  • With RN oversight, precepts new Ambulatory Technologists
  • May assist providers with patient processes as a surgical procedure assistant

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in customer focused/service setting required
  • Associate's degree preferred
  • 1 year of progressively responsible professional work experience as an ambulatory technologist required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and computer experience preferred
