Located in our downtown Denver office, you will be responsible for basic to mid-level accounting activities within Gates Corporate Accounting with a focus on its corporate entities. Responsibilities include booking journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting in closing ledgers, and forecasting; as well as completing management, statutory, and government reporting.
Job Responsibility:
Responsible for the daily accounting activities of multiple basic to mid-level entities as assigned by the Manager of Accounting
Support management reporting, including but not limited to the following activities: preparing and entering actual results, creating variance analysis
prepare and distribute financial results on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Preparation of, as well as assisting business partners with the preparation of, monthly forecast and annual budget
Process journal entries including preparation, recording and collection of supporting documentation in compliance with Gates Mandate for Fundamental Financial Controls and existing SOX Matrixes
Reconcile general ledger accounts, including but not limited to cash, prepaids, receivables, and various accrual accounts such as taxes, payroll, trade, benefits, environmental, and other miscellaneous accounts
Participate in special projects as directed by the Manager and Director of Accounting including but not limited to the preparation and completion of property tax filings, unclaimed property, headcount reporting and analysis, intercompany management charge outs, coding of invoices, and preparation of government reporting
Ensures compliance with Gates Mandate for Fundamental Financial Controls and SOX matrixes
Participates in and supports testing of internal and external audit activities by facilitating the provision of data to the auditors and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Identifies continuous improvement opportunities for processes and procedures within Gates Corporate Accounting (accuracy, timeliness, controls, automation, etc.)
Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded
Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger
Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports
Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses
Understands key business drivers

Requirements:
BS in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years of specific experience
A solid understanding of accounting is a must
Knowledge of GAAP is beneficial
Experience in large publicly owned corporations is a must
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Strong team player who is proactive, able to step in to support other team members, shares knowledge to allow cross-training and builds collaborative relationships
Demonstrates problem-solving skills and an understanding of appropriate escalation points

Knowledge of basic SOX controls and auditing processes and is committed to the importance of accounting standards and controls
Understanding of Oracle (or similar) financial modules and Hyperion (or similar) software a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Excel is a must
Excited to work in the office with great teammates
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
