Job Description:

Accelerate is a youth development program in professional cookery spanning 3 years. The Orientation year allows candidates to obtain realism of career choice and suitability for the industry before applying for the 3-year program. Orientation Chef Trainees work in all different sections of a hotel kitchen operation to gain practical insight.

Job Responsibility:

Work in all different sections that form part of a hotel kitchen operation
Follow all company policies and procedures
Ensure uniform and personal appearances are clean and professional
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
Protect company assets
Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
Anticipate and address guests' service needs
Speak with others using clear and professional language
Answer telephones using appropriate etiquette
Develop and maintain positive working relationships
Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards
Read and visually verify information
Move, lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing ≤5kg
Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods

Requirements:

Must be a South African citizen by birth
Must be between the ages of 18 and 22
Matric (Grade 12) certificate or equivalent accredited NQF or NCV Level 4 qualification
Must have passed all 7 Matric (Grade 12) subjects
No post Matric/NQF 4/NCV 4 qualifications
A year of practical working experience in a hotel

Nice to have:

Preferably each Matric subject achieved at 50% and higher
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-directed and able to work without supervision
Team player
Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
Highly self-started, motivated individual
Passionate about hospitality industry
Punctual and strong organizational skills
Flexible in working different shifts
Good communication or social skills
