Job Description:

This position will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting machine vision systems, which use cameras and software to capture and analyze visual information for purposes of quality control and defect detection under the direction of Operations, Engineering, and Quality staff.

Job Responsibility:

  • Install, develop, and maintain machine vision systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Support daily production through the timely troubleshooting of issues related to vision equipment, both software-related and/or mechanical in nature
  • Collect and analyze data to ensure quality is maintained
  • Independently diagnose issues and conduct root cause analysis to produce recommendations for process improvements, offload reduction, or machinery enhancements
  • Work with Engineering team to identify & support projects focused on improving the quality & efficiency of manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Document vision system configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Maintain and document vision change history for trend analysis
  • Maintain effective lines of communication cross-functionally between Manufacturing personnel, Quality, Operations, and Management as required
  • Train Operations and Maintenance personnel on the basic use and upkeep of vision systems
  • Interface with eMaint computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) system
  • Observe all safety practices while on the manufacturing floor and while running equipment
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times (ex. safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel toe shoes)

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Automation Technology preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or automation environment, with specific experience in vision systems preferred
  • Proficiency in machine vision software and tools
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel)
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to independently define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw logical conclusions, and generate actionable steps based on that information
  • Ability to communicate and respond to questions, both written and verbally, from Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance in an accurate and technical manner
  • Experience in the operation of automated equipment, including human machine interfaces (HMIs) and other control panels
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with Keyence vision system platforms is a plus
  • Understanding of industrial control systems, sensors, and automation equipment is a plus

  • Diagnose and resolve issues in industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, control Ethernet, switches, and distributed I/O
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) of chronic equipment issues using 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Pareto, and structured problem-solving tools
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to increase reliability and reduce unplanned downtime
  • Monitor and improve key maintenance metrics including: MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), Downtime analysis and reduction, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Develop, optimize, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans for automated systems
  • Use the CMMS to manage work orders, track failure history, assign tasks, and document activities
  • Create detailed Work Instructions for technicians covering part replacements, calibrations, alignments, and troubleshooting tasks
  • Manage and track spare parts inventory and budget, including lead times and critical spare identification
  • Support installation, integration, and startup of new production equipment including FAT/SAT, equipment commissioning, and multi-ton crane lifts
